Call us crazy, but when a person hosts a dinner party isn’t she supposed to supply the venue and not invite herself over to your home? Well, judging by The CW’s official promotional trailer for The Originals Season 2 Episode 3, it appears as though Esther Mikaelson didn’t get the memo. The mother of the original vampire brethren has strategic game plans and diabolical ideas swirling around her mind all day, so consulting Miss Manners for some much-needed advice is not at the top of her “To Do” list. Moreover, considering how she’d been left daggered for a thousand of years, then killed upon her resurrection, it’s safe to say she just didn’t have the time to brush up on her etiquette.
Anyway, before we end up rambling about mundane matters such as keeping your elbows off the table during supper and using the salad fork only for fresh greens and not the main course, let’s just get right to the point: Esther has made arrangements to meet with Niklaus over delicious food in “Every Mother’s Son.” Eight o’ clock sharp, loves!
When Elijah inquires about the surprise event, Klaus keeps it real. “I think it’s safe to say her intentions are decidedly foul,” he scoffs. Even Hayley is quick to point out that every fairy tale has a wicked witch. (Ain’t that the truth!) Viewers are then shown sneak peek footage of Cassie (aka the Harvest girl whose body Esther is inhabiting) hard at work inside her greenhouse. She’s whipping up an interesting magical concoction. Stuffing? Cranberry sauce? Brownies perhaps? Well, the recipe calls for eggs, strange herbs and what appears to be snake venom/tail/blood — so NO.
